CNC
BCBS Duplicate Copay problem has been corrected.

BCBSNC has determined the problem that caused duplicate co-payments to be taken for many BCBSNC in-state member claims.  BCBSNC has informed us that this problem has now been rectified and BCBSNC is reprocessing all of those claims so that our network providers do not have to submit a corrected claim.  This problem was caused by a technical glitch in one of their computer systems and BCBS regrets any inconvenience this has caused our providers.

NEW CNC PROVIDER INSTRUCTION MANUAL

The CNC Provider Instruction Manual has been revised and is now back on the CNC website!

All CNC Providers received a CNC Provider Instruction Manual when initially credentialed with our network.  To keep you abreast of changes with our managed care partners, it is necessary to periodically update this manual and we have tried to make this revised manual as inclusive as possible.

We urge you to download the new updated version of the manual from the CNC website and review this with your staff members.

Blue Medicare Fee Schedule Update Effective 010109

NOTICE OF CHANGE TO

CHIROPRACTIC BENEFITS FOR

BCBSNC BLUE MEDICARE MEMBERS

As you know, CNC does not manage the BCBSNC Medicare line of business plans, however BCBSNC has asked for our assistance in making you aware of an upcoming change to chiropractic benefits for BCBSNC Blue Medicare members.

Beginning in January 2009, chiropractic benefits for BCBSNC Blue Medicare members will be limited to only the services that traditional Medicare covers, which is manipulation of the spine to correct subluxation.

Other services such as x-rays taken in the chiropractor's office, massage, electric stimulation, and other forms of treatment and therapy given in the chiropractor's office will not be covered benefits by the Blue Medicare HMO or PPO plan.

If you have questions about this change, please contact your local BCBSNC Field Office Representative.

Important CIGNA Updates

FILING CIGNA CLAIMS

Please remember, as a CIGNA participating provider, you have agreed to treat CIGNA patients and provide usual and customary chiropractic care for the $45.00 global fee.  The global fee covers ALL routine/standard chiropractic covered services rendered to the patient on each date of service.

CLICK HERE to read about what is covered by CIGNA HealthCare.

CIGNA SECONDARY AND CORRECTED CLAIMS

Effective October 1, 2008, CIGNA HealthCare began processing chiropractic claims under one Global Fee of $45.00. CIGNA adopted the CPT code 98940 to use as the universal Global Fee code.

When CNC electronically submits your claims to CIGNA, the universal billing CPT code, 98940, is added to each claim so that the claims will be properly adjudicated by CIGNA.  However, when you send paper claims to CNC, such as secondary and/or corrected claims with attachments, in order for these claims to be properly adjudicated, they must ALSO include the universal CPT code 98940, together with your usual fee for that code, in addition to the actual services you provided on that visit.

Reminder:

BCBSNC Corporate

Medical Policy

CNC wants to remind you again that the BCBSNC Corporate Medical Policy governs ALL lines of BCBS business and supersedes any information that you may obtain when verifying benefits WITH THE EXCEPTION OF BCBS out-of-state plans.

The BCBSNC corporate medical policy does NOT govern BCBS out-of-state plan benefits.  For out-of state plan benefits, please contact the home plan directly to verify benefits and then follow the instructions provided to you by the home plan.   (For example, if the home plan states that maintenance care is covered, then you can provide maintenance care to that member and bill for that service through CNC to BCBS.)

The BCBSNC Corporate Medical Policy must be followed when providing services for the following members:

  • BCBSNC members (in-state plans)
  • NC State Employee Plan members
  • Federal Employee Plan members
  • ASO (self funded) groups
  • HSA/HRA members (high deductible plans)

The BCBSNC corporate medical policy is included in your CNC Practice Protection Plan as well as your CNC Provider Instruction Manual.  Both of these documents are available on the CNC website:  www.cncarolinas.com and if you are unsure about whether a service is covered under the corporate medical policy, please contact your CNC Provider Rep for assistance and she will be happy to assist you.

Our organization is a member of the American Chiropractic Association and supports this association as well as state chiropractic associations.  These organizations benefit ALL chiropractors and CNC encourages all chiropractors to support our profession by joining both your state association as well as the ACA.

Please do not reply to this email message as the return address is not monitored. If you have questions or need assistance of any kind, please contact your CNC Provider Representative.
