Answers to your BCBSNC questions
How can I obtain a copy of the NEW BCBS/CNC fee schedule?
The new BCBS/CNC fee schedule is effective for dates of service on or after February 1, 2009. You may view or print this new fee schedule from the secure portion of the CNC website, www.cncarolinas.com. Click on ‘Provider Login’ and enter your unique CNC username and password. If you need further assistance, please contact your CNC Provider Representative.
Reminder - Benefits vary by plan, so please remember to always verify benefits prior to rendering services. If a service is non-covered, please remember to obtain a signed waiver for non-covered services prior to rendering the service and also remember that these waivers must be maintained in the patient’s health care record. Click here for the CNC Waiver for Non-covered services.
Which BCBS claims are filed though CNC?
For proper adjudication, chiropractic claims for most BCBS plans administered by BCBSNC must be filed through CNC, with a couple of exceptions:
BCBS claims that SHOULD NOT be sent to CNC include:
- Blue Medicare Claims (send directly to BCBSNC)
- BCBS Children’s Health Insurance Plans (CHIPS) (send directly to BCBSNC)
BCBS claims that MUST be sent to CNC include:
- All PPO claims
- NC State Employee claims
- Federal Employee claims
- HRA/HSA claims
- All self funded plans
- All CMM claims, including:
Classic Blue® “CMM”
Blue AssuranceSM “CMM”
AccessSM “CMM”
Short Term Health Care “CMM”
Why is BCBSNC applying 2 co-payments for the same date of service?
BCBSNC has experienced a technical problem that resulted in the inappropriate application of two co-pays on a single date of service. This problem has occurred when a chiropractic claim reported both an E/M service together with a CMT code on the same date of service. BCBSNC has informed us that a system update to correct this problem is underway and should be resolved shortly. When the update has been completed, BCBS will run internal queries to identify those CNC claims that were incorrectly adjudicated and will reprocess them. At this time, there is no need to submit corrected claims. |
