CIGNA Secondary Claims

CNC and CIGNA HealthCare have been working continuously to resolve the CIGNA secondary claim issues that have developed as a result of the CIGNA global fee. CNC has now been assigned a team of CIGNA Professional Claim Representatives to assist in getting these secondary claims correctly processed.  CNC is sending all such claims directly to these representatives.

If you have ANY secondary claims with CIGNA as the primary payor that have not been correctly adjudicated by the secondary payor, please send these claims to CNC and we will assist you with getting these claims corrected and processed. (This ALSO INCLUDES secondary claims when the secondary payor is a non-CNC payor such as Aetna, United, etc.)

Filing Guidelines:

When the primary carrier is CIGNA HealthCare, and the secondary carrier is a CNC payor, continue to file your secondary claims to CNC as normal with the primary CIGNA HealthCare EOB attached. CNC will attach an explanation and send to the payor.  We will continue to work with them to get these claims properly adjudicated. 

When the primary carrier is CIGNA HealthCare, and the secondary payor is a NON-CNC payor, and the claim was incorrectly processed by the secondary payor, due to the global fee, please mail these claims to CNC as well.  To assist with getting these claims paid, we will attach an explanation clarifying the CIGNA global fee and forward the claims to the correct payor.  We will continue to do this in an attempt to assist your office in getting your secondary claims correctly adjudicated until CIGNA has resolved this issue.

CNC WILL NOT RECEIVE PAYMENT FOR NON-CNC SECONDARY CLAIMS AND NO ADMIN FEE WILL BE TAKEN!

Orthotics and DME

CIGNA HealthCare requires that all patients requiring orthotics be referred to the authorized national CIGNA vendor.  Linkia is the specialty healthcare company that provides orthotics to CIGNA HealthCare members and is the only orthotic vendor approved by CIGNA in North and South Carolina.

CIGNA HealthCare requires all patients needing Durable Medical Equipment (DME) be referred to the authorized national CIGNA vendor. Apria Healthcare is a specialty company that provides DME to CIGNA HealthCare members and is the only DME vendor approved by CIGNA in North and South Carolina.

Please remember that CNC providers cannot provide orthotics or DME to CIGNA HealthCare members.
